Regenerative agriculture can be defined as an agricultural approach that not only seeks to preserve but also restore and revitalize the health of soil, water, and ecosystems. While there is no official intergovernmental legislation or legal framework internationally agreed upon, practices are mostly shaped by standards developed by private organizations. Although these standards serve as guidelines for farmers, the adoption of different criteria by different institutions leaves the concept flexible in definition and leads to diversity in practice. Therefore, for now, regenerative agriculture is an approach advancing as a global vision and certification framework.
